In 2011, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) laid down the eligibility criteria for individuals to be deemed eligible to be appointed as teachers for Classes I to VIII in schools affiliated to the CBSE board. The Central Teacher Eligibility Test has become mandatory for those who wish to be recruited as primary and elementary level teachers in various schools run across India by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.
To be able to land a job as a teacher in any school offering CBSE board recognized curriculum, you first need to crack CTET by scoring 60% marks. This year, the examinations are going to be held on 21st February, 2016 and 18th September, 2016. To do well on CTET, here is some useful information regarding the exam pattern and syllabus for the year 2016.
CTET Exam Pattern for the Year 2016
Pattern of CTET Paper I
This paper consists of 30 MCQs across 5 sections, totalling to 150 questions in all. Each question carries one mark. You are expected to finish the exam in a total of 2.5 hours. The sections that you need to prepare for include –

Pattern of CTET Paper II
Just like the first paper, this paper too has a total of 150 questions. Your paper needs to finish in 2.5 hours. Here while Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I and Language II are compulsory sections, there are separate sections for candidates applying for the post of Math & Science teachers and those applying for the post of a Social Science teacher.
