Are You Prepared for SSC Exam Calendar 2016

The Staff Selection Commission exams are conducted with the purpose of recruiting personnel for jobs in Central Govt, its various departments and ministries. Recruitment is done in multiple grades such as: Officer / Assistant (Graduate Level), Clerical (LDC / DEO – 12th Level) & Multitasking (10th Level). Among these, the Officer / Assistant grade is considered to be the most prestigious and highly lucrative one. Thus, it goes without saying that entry into this grade is a challenging task.

SSC CGL exam, which paves the way for Officer / Assistant grade jobs, is conducted in 3 different tiers. Experts from a Top SSC Coaching Centre in Delhi believe that the process is aimed at testing the applicant’s problem solving acumen and the ability to handle a number of managerial level tasks. As a candidate, you are expected to clear all the 3 tiers to finally get a job offer from the Govt of India.

Tier I – Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude (Maths) and English Comprehension

SSC CGL Tier-I is a 2 hour exam which is divided into 4 sections. It covers topics that comprehensively examine the overall calibre of an applicant. With a syllabus that tests the basic concepts of verbal usage, current affairs, general studies, logical reasoning and numerical ability (mathematics) you must make sure that you are well prepared. Considering the scope of Tier-I and the time pressure that’s there, you are best advised to start preparing for this exam as soon as possible. Although the task seems a daunting one, yet you can derive some comfort from the fact that SSC does not particularly focus on sectional cut offs as IBPS exams do.

Tier II – Quantitative Ability and English Comprehension

The Tier-II exam has two sections: Maths & English. Each of these sections is worth 200 marks and has separate time duration of 2 hours. So, a total of 400 marks are at stake out here. The Maths section will thoroughly test your knowledge and understanding of all prominent areas such as Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry. When it comes to English language section you must be prepared for questions pertaining to sentence correction, synonyms & antonyms, one word substitution, fill in the blanks, cloze test, reading comprehension, idioms & phrases, direct & indirect speech and active & passive voice.

Tier III – Personality Test / Interview Round

In the final round of the selection process, you will go through an interview that examines your personality and assesses your confidence. Special emphasis will be there on checking your interpersonal skills and communication ability. You will be placed before a panel of experienced interviewers who decide whether you should ultimately be selected or not.
